SISTERHOOD
What does it mean?
Here at Alpha Chi Omega Epsilon Lambda
Chapter, our sisterhood is very strong. We begin a special bond from the
moment that we begin recruitment [formal and informal.] Here you will find
your lifelong friends--the friends that you share your most treasured moments
with, whether it be, talking about the cute boy next door, support for a big
test tomorrow, going on trips together or helping you plan your big day.
Sisters are away there for you no matter what.
After recruitment, the bond of
sisterhood increases with each day to come! Each semester, we have sisterhood
retreats, that's when members get together to renew our bond with one another
and look to each other for support, or just getting to know one another a
little bit closer! It's so much fun! The new members have their own retreat as
well as the sisterhood retreat! It's a time to get closer with you new
sisters!!
Sisterhood is what ultimately brings us
all together and what ensures the survival of our house. The bond that we
share as sisters is something that is so much stronger and deeper than
friendship, because we are more than friends. We are sisters!
We as members participate in sisterhood
activities throughout the year in order to maintain the bond that we share.
The NEW Scrapbook pages are coming soon!!
Here are some of the activities that
we share with one another:
Bid Day: Is such a fun experience. Your all pumped up
waiting patiently for that envelope. Then we all meet as one big group on
Greek Row, where all of the active sorority members are waiting to meet and
greet us! They start calling out the chapters names and you both run towards
each other in excitement! Fall 2003, the active members had Limo's to take us
to the Oasis on Joe Pool Lake. None of the other sororities did that, so it
made us feel real special and different! It is really something you must
experience for yourself...
Big Sis / Lil' Sis: Formals:
Followingrecruitment the new members spend several weeks getting to know each other and
the other active members.. The time is filled with lots of talk, presents,
fun, and laughter, and by the end of the six weeks the new members are ready
to choose a "Big Sis" and gain a family in the house, but again it's
something so much more than just telling, you have to experience it as well!
Sisterhood
Retreat: Iin order to strengthen our sisterly bond
we try to have a retreat every semester for the fall & spring classes;
we'll travel somewhere together [which is a secret until the day of] to remind
ourselves of why we are members of this sorority. Sometimes we'll go to
someone's house, go somewhere really neat, or we will stay close
to home. It doesn't really matter where we go because all that really matters
is that we are all together.
Formals:
We have Formals once a year usually after
fall rush. This is a time where we all get together. Grab one of your sisters
and get dress up, borrow each other clothes or go shopping at the mall for a
new stylish dress and have a blast of a time. Not only do we dance at a formal
but we also give silly rewards there too! Its fun to see who thought who had a
J-Lo butt, or who is most likely to marry a millionaire!
